Description
This is a horizontally mounted, single compartment multiport photo-electrochemical cell. It is designed to investigate performance of a thin film photo-anode (e.g. nanocrystalline material or conducting polymer) deposited on a rigid or flexible transparent substrate (typically fused quartz glass).
The cathode (counter electrode) and reference electrode are typically mounted in a top lid, while both side lids can be used to mount up to 4 other electrodes (e.g. pH meter, thermometer, Clark electrode, etc.). The tubing installed in side lids enables aliquot sample collection (liquid) and supply of gaseous and liquid reagents. The gas inlet and outlet in the top lid can be used to bubble the solution and evacuate gases from the chamber. The cell elements are made of PEEK.
Application note
This cell allows several approaches to perform measurements in 2- or 3-electrode setups. Typical applications include: basic photochemistry, photolytic water splitting, photoinduced charge separation and photocorrosion.
