Researchers select either the interdigitated A-Cell, suited to thin electrodes under roughly 1.5 mm, or the flat-surface S-Cell for thicker felt electrodes, both fixed at a 2.5 × 2.5 cm active area for direct comparability. An 8-channel battery tester with software, a 2-channel peristaltic pump, and a complete fluidic connection kit come pre-configured, leaving only electrodes, membranes, and electrolyte to be selected.
