Description

Overview

Small volume test cell for liquid electrolytes - HF-compatible. Benefit from this test cell for performing electrochemical measurements to study liquid samples, e.g. lithium-ion battery electrolytes.

  • Only small sample amounts required
  • Robust, user-friendly design
  • Air-tight: moisture- and air-sensitive samples can be studied

Typical applications

This test cell can be used for experiments with both a 2-electrode and a 3-electrode configuration. Typical applications are:

  • Determination of the conductivity of liquid electrolytes
  • Investigation of the electrochemical stability window of electrolytes
  • Cyclic voltammetry studies of redox-active samples

Detailed description

The test cell TSC 1600 Closed GC consists of several high-quality building blocks: The gold-plated base unit (= "thermo block") comes with an integrated Pt100 temperature sensor that monitors the temperature very close to the sample, as well as a fixed platinum crucible that serves as sample container and counter electrode. To seal the test cell, a housing made of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) with two o-ring grooves is used which connects the base unit and the cap.

The PEEK cap has an exchangeable electrode tip made of a glassy carbon rod press-fitted in a PEEK sleeve. The mirror-like polished surface of the glassy carbon rod is exposed to the sample electrolyte. Other electrode tip materials are available on demand.

Furthermore, the cap has two inlets that are sealed by plugs by default, but can also be used for inserting capillaries or (pseudo-) reference electrodes made of metal wires.
