Detailed description

This test cell has been designed for studying solid-liquid interfaces. It is airtight and enables the investigation of air- and moisture-sensitive samples.

The electrochemically active area of the solid substrate is defined by a 6x1.5 mm o-ring clamped onto it from above. Four contact pins establish an electrical contact with the surface of the substrate. Thus, the substrate sheet can be contacted from below via the base unit or from above via the contact pins. Two ports in the test cell housing and two ports in the test cell cap enable the usage of reference electrodes or allow for filling the test cell with electrolyte. An electrolyte amount of approx. 0.6 ml is required.

The cell is sealed by a cap with an exchangeable electrode tip. By default, a glassy carbon electrode press-fitted in PEEK (diameter of electrochemically active surface area: 6 mm) is included. Exchangeable electrode tips with other materials can be offered on demand.
