Galvanic corrosion cell
OrigaLys

Stationary two-compartment electrochemical cell with a total volume capacity of up to 50 mL, designed for electrode measurements of: a) rod/disc (6 mm body diameter), b) thin films deposited on flat substrates (secured with a wire clip), and c) free-standing samples (secured with a wire clip). Working, counter, and reference electrodes are housed in a lid, configured in 2-electrode or 3-electrode setup. Counter electrode resides in a separate PTFE compartment isolated from other electrodes by a membrane (ion-exchange or nanoporous), easily replaceable by removing a membrane holder. This counter electrode compartment features dedicated inlet and outlet ports for convenient electrolyte filling and gas evacuation. It is also possible to separate the reference electrode using a membrane if it requires protection from the electrolyte (for example, high pH may dissolve the ceramic frit or glass housing) or if there is a risk of contaminating the surroundings of the electrochemical reaction. A liquid junction adapter is used for this purpose.
Constructed from inert materials including PTFE, PVDF, and other fluoro-polymers, compatible with both aqueous (FKM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolytes. Ensures a gas-tight seal and is suitable for applications requiring removal and exclusion of contaminants such as oxygen and water by bubbling inert gas through the electrolyte. By removing the counter electrode compartment, the cell transforms into a PTFE BEC 50 mL - PTFE Basic Electrochemical Cell.
Note: wire clips, counter electrode, reference electrode, RE liquid junction adapter, and membranes shown in product pictures are not included and should be ordered separately.
Application note Materials used to construct this cell have been specifically selected for compatibility with concentrated alkaline electrolytes (including heated ones), hydrofluoric acid, or other electrolytes with which glass and PEEK are not compatible. The tips of the reference and working disk electrodes should be positioned at the level of the membrane to ensure minimal potential drop for low-current experiments. Gas bubbling should be stopped before the experiment begins. Magnetic stirring during the experiment may significantly affect measurements.
