Description
This is a horizontally mounted, single compartment photo-electrochemical cell with magnetic mount and front electrical contact. It is designed to investigate performance of a thin film photo-anode deposited on a rigid or flexible transparent substrate (typically FTO coated or uncoated borosilicate or fused quartz glass).
The electrical connection to the photo-anode is provided by a Copper foil contact facing the sample from the front (touching the photo-active film). The Copper contact stays dry during the experiment as it is located out of the sample sealing O-Ring outer diameter. The cathode (counter electrode) and reference electrode are mounted in a lid. The cell elements are made of PEEK. It well fits aqueous (EPDM/FKM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolyte requirements. The construction is gas-tight having gas inlet and outlet.
Application note
This cell allows several approaches to perform measurements in 2- or 3-electrode setups. Typical applications include: basic photochemistry, photolytic water splitting, CO2 reduction, photoinduced charge separation and photocorrosion.
