Description
This is a horizontally mounted, single compartment photo-electrochemical cell with magnetic mount, used to simultaneously investigate thin film photo-anodes and cathodes from both sides (double-sided). It is designed to investigate performance of a thin film photo-anode deposited on a rigid or flexible transparent substrate (typically fused quartz glass). The cathode (counter electrode) is either mounted in a top casing or attached on the other side of the cell as a thin film deposited on rigid or flexible substrate. The reference electrode is mounted in a top casing.
The cell elements are made of PEEK. It well fits aqueous (FKM/EPDM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolyte requirements. The construction is gas-tight having gas inlet and outlet, which can be used to bubble the solution and evacuate gases from the chamber.
Application note
The thin films of interest deposited on a transparent glass or plastic foil (counter electrode may be deposited on an opaque substrate) are installed in the magnetic mounts, facing the cell chamber.
