Flexible customized photoelectrochemical cells
Apria

Description
This is a horizontally mounted, single compartment photo-electrochemical cell with screw mount. It is designed to investigate performance of a thin film photo-anode (e.g. nanocrystalline material or conducting polymer) deposited on a rigid or flexible transparent substrate (typically fused quartz glass). The cathode (counter electrode) and reference electrode are mounted in a top casing.
The cell elements are made of PEEK. It well fits aqueous (EPDM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolyte requirements. The construction is gas-tight having gas inlet and outlet, which can be used to bubble the solution and evacuate gases from the chamber.
Application note
This cell allows several approaches to perform measurements in 2- or 3-electrode setups. A thin film of interest deposited on a transparent glass or plastic foil is installed in the screw mount facing the cell chamber. Typical applications include: basic photochemistry, photolytic water splitting, photoinduced charge separation and photocorrosion.
